Youger brother of Thomas Pryor who married sister Emma Hooper in 1896
Maureen Selley wrote (2003)- I have the marriage certificate, as these were my grandparents. Emma's father Richard Kelley Hooper and Mary Hannah (nee Marks) Her sister was Bessie. I have both their baptisms entries. My father's sister Doris, who died in her 90s knew them both, and told me much of the family history
which I then proved with documents. Sisters Emma and Bessie married Thomas and Richard Pryor. - "maureen.selley" <maureen.selley@ntlworld.com>Household Record 1881 British Census - Dwelling: Moorswater Village, Liskeard, Cornwall, England

At the 1841 UK Census - Mary Redfern (Senior) is recorded as being 23 years of age and of independent means, and her two daughters Ann (29) and Mary (26) also with no occupation are living at Taddington Village in Derbyshire, residing with them as a servant is Grand-Daughter Emma Hodkin aged 9, the daughter of George Hodkin and Hannah Redfern of Blackwell. This is probably the only pointer at this time which links this 'Redfern' family to their origins from Heywood in Lancashire, and verifies the link between Hannah (Redfern) Hodkin and this line of 'Redferns'spouse:Occupation -

[Mossley & Saddleworth Herald - January 28th 1972]
Man (81) badly burned as fire sweeps living-room
An 81-Year-Old Mossley man was severely burned from the waist down in a fire which damaged the living-room of his terraced cottage on Monday morning.
He is Mr. Andrew Reoch, a widower, who lives alone, at 5 Andrews Buildings, off Micklehurst Road. A retired Loom Tuner, Mr. Reoch was found lying on the floor in the corner of the living-room. A chair, which formed part of a three-piece suite, was found badly burned in another part of the room.
He was taken to Ashton General Hospital, where he was said on Tuesday to be "poorly", but his condition was described as "fair" yesterday. Next door neighbour, Mr. Frank Harrop, of 3 Andrews Buildings, said he and other members of his family had seen smoke coming out of Mr. Reoch's chimney at about 9.00.a.m.; "We thought it was a sweal, but about 11.00.a.m. there was smoke and soot seeping it's way into our house and we spotted smoke coming out of the windows of the cottage next door" Mr. Harrop said.
Another neighbour Mrs. Gertrude Tinsley, of 7 Andrews Buildings, had a key to Mr. Reoch's home, but the neighbours were unable to get into the house by the front door, presumably because either the catch was on the door, or the door was bolted from the inside. "Then we found that two men had got into the house the back way. They went in through all the smoke with wet towels over their faces. Mr. Reoch was inside". Mr. Harrop said. "We got him out and I called an ambulance".
Mr. Reoch is described, by his neighbours as quite an active man, who does not smoke. He has a step-daughter living in Hull and a step-son in Whitley Bay.
Neighbours beaten back by Smoke [The Reporter - February 4th 1972]
Trying to get into a smoke filled house, two neighbours were beaten back because of the density of the smoke, an inquest in Ashton General Hospital were told on Wednesday, when an accidental death verdict was recorded on a Mossley man who died in hospital where he was taken suffering from severe burns.
Retired Loom Tuner, Mr. Andrew Reoch, aged 81, of 5 Andrews Buildings, died on Sunday after the fire at his home on January 24th.
Consultant pathologist Dr. Samuel H. Jackson, said Mr. Reoch died from from heart failure due to bronchial-pneumonia, with the severe burning a contributory cause.
The County Coroner, Mr. Leonard Gorodkin, was told that , while in hospital Mr. Reoch could remember nothing about the fire, but said he had done his washing and was sitting in front of the fire reading his newspaper.
Scorched
Mrs. Gertrude Tinsley, of 7 Andrews Buildings, said that she went to open the front door with a key, but failed and could see nothing through the window because of the smoke. She went back to her home and got a towel and tried again to get into the house but failed. Someone else tried to get inside but was also beaten back by the smoke. By this time the Fire Brigade were on the way.
Constable James Darnborough told the Coroner that the fire was brought under control by the fire brigade. He saw Mr. Reoch whose trousers were burned away to the waist. Furniture near the fireplace in the living-room was scorched and clothes hung on a clothes-maiden by the fireplace were also scorched.
