Private Ivan JONES was best man. The bridegroom, who is the second son of Mrs and the later Mr. Wm Radcliffe WOOD, and was formerly employed at Mossley Station in the goods department, left for France the day following. The happy couple, received a large number of useful and handsome presents.
On Saturday at the Wesleyan Chapel, Stamford Road, Mossley, Mr Harry LAWTON, son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Thomas LAWTON, of Greenfield, and formerly of King Street, Micklehurst, was married to Dorothy Louisa Day, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs Joseph R. DAY, Station House, Micklehurst, the Rev. E. S. HARLAND performing the ceremony. Mr Robert LAWTON acted as best man, and the bridesmaid was Miss Mary GRINDON, of Macclesfield. A reception was held at the house of the bride's parents.
It was originally intended to have a double wedding, but owing to Private WOOD being unable to get leave the arrangement could not be carried out.
