The Mossley and Saddleworth Reporter - 24th March 1928 - Golden wedding.
Rejoicing in the esteem of a large number of friends, Mr and Mrs William LAWTON celebrated their golden wedding on Tuesday at their home, 49 Lorne Street, when relatives and a few intimate friends joined them in quiet celebrations. Mr and Mrs LAWTON were wedded at St George's Church 50 years ago in the building preceding the present handsome edifice. Mr LAWTON, who is 74, wears remarkably well and he still follows his trade as a carpenter in the employ of Alderman J. A. BOTTOMLEY, J.P. At one period during their strennous life, Mr and Mrs LAWTON, lived in Australia, and both are highly respected in the Borough.

There appears to be every problability that the "Sarah Dyson" living with Joe & Mary (Nield) Lawton in the 1841 & 1851 Census returns, was in fact the Sarah Garside who married Jonathon Nield. I can only find documentation for one child from that marriage which was 'Mary', but there is also a Jonathon Nield born 1806 who may also be a child of Jonathon & Sarah. It looks likely that Jonathon Nield died sometime before 1816 and that Sarah (Garside) Nield re-married to James Dyson (See Below) - Although the marriage was in Middleton it seems some children were born in Mossley.spouse: Nield, Jonathon (~1780 - <1816)

We sympathise deeply with Mr and Mrs Wright GARTSIDE of the Horse and Jockey Inn, Bleakhey Nook, Delph, in the sad loss they have sustained by the death in New Zealand of their married daughter, Clara. The deceased, who was only 31 years of age, was married about 9 years ago to Mr William H. RICHARDS, also of Delph, and bore him three children, all boys, and now respectively aged 8 years, 4 years, and 1 1/2 years.
The couple emigrated to New Zealand some 4 years ago, and in April last, Mrs CLARA RICHARDS, who was suffering from appendicitis underwent an operation in the Wellington Hospital, and not recovering from the shock, she passed away on the 22nd of that month. The funeral took place three days later at Karori, the Rev. D. JENKINS being the officiating minister. The bereaved children are now on their way to England, and on their arrival will be taken in charge by Mr and Mrs GARTSIDE their grandparents.Burial - [date: APR_JUN 1908] [place: Karori, Wellington, New Zealand.]
